The Good, the Bad &…  The day started like any other.  I slid down the stairs with Gaby on my lap, let her out and carried her back upstairs.  Her eyesight isn’t great these days so she can’t quite see the steps to go down.  Had a good day trading although the market is definitely on shakey ground.  I am hoping for capitulation next week… Anyway, I digress…  I had a great day nutritionally until I hit the  Cadbury egg landmine…  That was definitely the bad!!!  On to the good.  I’ve been fighting a migraine all day and normally I would not workout,however, I really wanted to see if I could work thru it.  I did and not only did I lift weights today,  I also did my stepper.  I did 2 sessions on the stepper for a total of 40 minutes and 381 calories burned. During the 2nd session on the stepper, I actually felt the kind of exhilaration I used to feel,  10 or 12 years ago, at my fittest, when I did an hour a day before I went to work.  One of my goals for the stepper has always been to make it something I look forward to, where I can work out and resolve things that may be bothering me or just think freely.  On to the stats for weights:

Had plans after work with the family so did my workout while the market was slow.  Did half the workout at level 8 and the other half at level 7 and11 w/intervals.  Noticing continual improvement in strength 🙂

I had a renewed energy for working out after taking yesterday off.  I did 32 minutes on the stepper for a total of 330 calories burned.  It amazes me that just a few weeks ago I struggled with level 6 and now level 7 is easy especially compared to level 11 during intervals.stepper1

I am also really pleased with the progress I am making with my strength training.  I especially notice with bench press.   I had trouble with 45 lbs when I started and now, at least in the beginning of the set, it feels light 🙂

Finally got my video done for my weigh in #2.  I still feel really unnatural doing these vids but maybe in time…

I did a bit over 30 min on the stepper for 318 calories burned.

It’s after 2:00 am so off to bed.

Sue and Ted left around 11:00 am and it was on with the day!  I did laundry… only to find a leak in the basement – whooooooooooooops!  Got a call into the plumber…

I also weighed in again today as I am thinking Sunday may be my official weigh in day.  165 – so 4 pounds in about 3 weeks (from 2/2/09).  I definitely need to get a video out but need to get the workout done first.  Monday at the latest for the vid.

ON TO WEIGHTS

Since I have started working out regularly, I am noticing I am feeling better and a lot stronger.  I am able to add heavier weights gradually and noticing it isn’t as hard as it was to do all the reps.

Yay!!  Finally was able to graduate to a barbell of 35lbs instead of the 2 15 dumbbells.

Need to start trying to do pushups again…

My sister’s husband came up in the afternoon during the TeamWeights phone chat so after the chat we all hung out and caught up.  Ted, a computer wiz, added some RAM to my Mom’s rather slow computer and did a bunch of updates to get it moving faster than a snails pace.  We played a few rounds of Scattergories as well.

I only had time for my 30 min stepper workout – 315 calories burned.  Had hoped to also do weights, but by the time we were done with dinner it was too late.

Finally weighed in:  drumroll….    165.5     3.5 lb loss in about 2 weeks –  video out on Sunday. Very pleased with meeting goals re: working out.  Becoming routine again. Yay!  Still working on nutrition and have been reading one of the reviewed books from WLL – Abs Diet (the for Women version)  Quite an interesting read so far.  Delves into the importance of strength training for raising basal metabolism.

Nutrition – stayed within calories – My sister is in town so Mom, Sue and I went out for a pre-birthday dinner.   I chose rather sensibly except we did split a dessert 🙂
